How many times have you heard “I’m too busy” as the reason someone doesn’t want to host a party, schedule an appointment or join your business? How do you respond? Many times, I let that objection be the end of the conversation, or I responded with a trite answer, like, “Well, I know one thing, if you want to get something done, ask a busy person. I bet you would be great at….”

“I’m too busy” has become almost a badge of honor in our fast pace, high-tech world. Look around; how many of those ‘too busy’ people look like they are loving life? “I’m too busy” increases our stress levels and keeps us from pursuing what God put us on this planet to do. “I’m too busy” is an easy excuse to say NO instead of taking time to consider the request.

As a coach, I know that slowing down to inspect our lives brings about joy, passion and a purposeful life. Helping others engage in this process always begins with questions. I put this concept together with the challenge of responding to the objection “I’m too busy.” I can’t wait to start using these questions when I hear, “I’m too busy.” I thought you might find them helpful and powerful in your direct selling business, too.

  • Are you happy with that?
  • Is busy fun?
  • What do you miss out on because you are too busy?
  • Is all that busyness creating a great life?
