Make calling fun! The phone doesn’t have to weigh 100 pounds. When the team culture is one where everyone makes calls all the time, each new team member will just fall in line. Here are two of my favorite ways to make calling fun.

The Booking Blitz

A booking blitz is when everyone on the team makes calls at the same time. Set a date and time to start. (The evening after an event is always a good time.) Get the gang virtually together. A conference call works, but even more fun is Google Hangout or Skype. Spend about fifteen minutes sharing the best reasons for people to schedule a one on one or party tonight. Choose someone to practice with you, the leader, and demonstrate a call. Explain the point system for the competition. (See example below.) Next, everyone hangs up and dials for forty-five minutes. At the appointed time, all dial back in to the conference call, Google Hangout or Skype. Celebrate success! Take time to process any challenges or concerns.

The Team Call Center

Gather everyone in one place with their cell phone and stack of leads. Hold a live booking blitz to make it fun. Have a bell or buzzer handy and when someone secures a date for a party, one on one, etc., have them ring the bell!

A point system might look like this:

  • 1 pt. =   leaving a phone message
  • 2 pt. =   talking with someone live, no concrete results
  • 3 pt. =   getting an order
  • 4 pt. =   booking a catalog show
  • 5 pt. =   book a party or fundraiser
  • 6 pt. =   schedule a one on one
  • 10 pt. = signing a new team member

When everyone on the team is dialing together, everyone wins. As a leader, you are able to generate excitement and process any challenges before people are stuck. It truly is WIN-WIN to create a dialing culture!
