It’s back-to-school time; for many direct sellers, that means back to business, too. Are you excited for the fall selling season yet a bit overwhelmed by everything on your perpetual ‘to-do ‘list? There are ball games to attend, school open houses, selling events to schedule, meetings to plan, phone calls to make, Halloween costumes to create, not to mention church and community commitments! Whew, I am overwhelmed just creating the list!

It was a list like this that almost pushed me over the edge. Almost fortunately, I learned about the three R’s. No, not reading, ‘riting, and ‘rithmitic. As my team grew, I was saved by the three R’s of prioritizing! [Note: My eternal thanks go to John Maxwell for creating this list.] Now when I am feeling overwhelmed, all I have to do is apply these 3 R’s to each item on my list, and poof, I know just what to do!

What requires me?

What must I do because I am the ONLY person who can do this? This question taught me to delegate. Eventually, I learned to hire people to do most things not on this list. This strategy taught me to give responsibility to my children, too. They all learned when it was time to pick up their family responsibilities. I let them know when I was available, and they worked out rides for the other times, offering my driving when it worked for me.

What gives the greatest return? 

Working with people and administration areas uses my strengths and brings the most significant return to my business. I put these tasks at the top of my list and work to delegate the rest. What are your strengths? Focusing on these areas will bring the greatest return on your time investment. 

What brings the Greatest Reward?

What provides the greatest reward for you will align directly with what you value most, so use your values as your measuring stick! Being fully present with my family brings the most significant rewards personally. By delegating many home maintenance activities or doing them with my family, my time with the most important people in my life increases. I love knowing that my work makes a difference in someone’s life, so coaching is my current sweet spot. What brings you the most satisfaction in your business?
