Many of you know Mary McLoughlin, an amazing woman and Team Connections coach.  She led a multimillion dollar direct selling organization and was well known as a recruiter. Then, something happened.  She shares her story because you may relate.

Here is her story:

“I distinctly remember a time when my recruiting ‘dried up’. I had been a fairly consistent recruiter for many years, when I realized that I had not recruited anyone for almost six months. My first reaction was to blame the world. The company policies changed, September 11 happened, no one wanted to work. Perhaps you have said some of these things, too. Eventually, what I came to discover and own, was that there were some big challenges in my personal life. My attitude was in the tank and my recruiting reflected it. I knew that if I didn’t turn around my recruiting slump, I would just add to my ‘black view of the world’. Life was going to happen; my business didn’t have to suffer. What I discovered was that I had to shift me.

  1. My influences: I began to read better books, talk to more successful people and watch less drama TV.
  2. Put into action what I was learning. Sometimes, I learned new things and often I relearned old things.
  3. Seek out the experts. Who had done what I was struggling to do? Who had overcome a recruiting slump?”
