Have you ever felt overwhelmed?  If you have, join the crowd!  Feeling overwhelmed has become a part of life.  I recently felt overwhelmed and knew I needed to take steps to get out of it.

Here are 3 things that helped me and may help you the next time you feel overwhelmed:

  • Ask yourself, “What’s the best schedule I’ve ever had?” When my coach asked me that question, I realized it was when I scheduled “workdays” and “days off” each week. During my career, my favorite schedule was working hard during the week and taking the weekend off. It was important to me to have weekends for my family. My favorite schedule may not be yours. Think about what’s important to you and create the schedule that’s right for you. Imagine how free you will feel when your family is your top priority!
  • Set a weekly schedule that makes you happy. To have a “happy schedule,” I needed to schedule “workdays” and “days off” every week.” To be able to enjoy my “days off totally,” I also needed to set a deadline to be done with my work for the week. This helped me stay focused because I loved the feeling of being able to enjoy my “days off” without thinking about work.  Now, I know some of you work on the weekend. If so, plan your “days off” during the week and enjoy them!
  • Get your calendar in order:
    • Do a Brain Dump. Get everything you have to do out of your head. Write it down in your computer or a spiral notebook. This frees up your brain from overwhelm.
    • Look at your list and decide what your priorities are for the week. Schedule them in your calendar. Anything that takes more than 15 minutes goes in your calendar.
    • “Get ‘er done!” You’ve got your “workdays” and “days off” set and your priorities for the week in your calendar. Now, it’s time to stay focused on getting it done.

What I found is when I became intentional about my weekly schedule, I was able to “Work Hard and Play Hard,” and that made me happy!

As we work with field leaders in direct sales, we hear many different opinions about social media. Some people spend hours every day on social media. Others we work with are far too intimidated by social media to incorporate it into their business at a high level. It’s a real problem for both groups, and we want to start a discussion that we hope helps you, regardless of which group you find yourself in.
