As you look to your accomplishments of 2018, be sure to celebrate your wins! If you haven’t done it, now is the time to set some goals for 2019 to make it your best year ever.

First, begin with your dreams.  Stop, close your eyes, it is December 2019.  Now dream of what would be different if one dream came true in 2019.

  • No credit card payments
  • Down payment for a house
  • $10,000 in savings
  • A vacation or cruise

Now, set a SMART goal for the year.  You have heard us talk about SMART goals in the past. We have lots of articles about goal setting, including guest articles, and training on coaching your team to set goals.

Here is an example of one of our client’s SMART goal for 2019.


Specific:     We are going on a family cruise.

Measurable:     How much money do I need?

Achievable:     Other people do it, why can’t I?

Relevant:     My why is family, so yes

Time Bound:     I will earn money by November so that I can pay cash.

Now, take your turn.  Dream a little and then make those dreams SMART.  With a SMART goal, you can begin to break down the goal into monthly benchmarks, weekly action plans and then daily look at your goal and ask, “What am I doing to make my goal a reality.”

Someone said, “If you can conceive it and believe it, you can achieve it.”

Dare to dream, leaders.

Write down your dreams in SMART goals.

Look at your goals daily.

Believe in yourself.

Work to make it happen.
