As a coach, I sometimes find myself talking with clients who are unhappy. Who among us in the last few months has not felt overpressured and underappreciated?  My clients are experiencing high-performance pressures, they aren’t getting along with key people around them, they are distrusting and jealous of work partners, and their productivity is on a downward spiral.  The weird part of this is that they know it.  They can see all of those things going on around them, they can see their counterproductive role, and they can’t stop.

I was looking for a new tool that I might use to support just such a client when I came across this video from Marshall Goldsmith.  He makes the top 10 in just about every list of influential thinkers in American business.  He is also a highly effective coach.  In this six-minute video, he explains how to be happy and let go of guilt.  I’m not sure I will ever show it to a coaching client, but I will definitely find a place in my life for the technique.
