For most of you, your summer conference has come and gone. You can feel momentum on your team, and it is an exciting time as everyone is getting ready for their fall business!

Now is the perfect time to connect with your team members and find out what they want from their business for the rest of the year.  Begin by setting business planning appointments with those who went to conference. Then, move on to new or prospective future leaders who didn’t go to conference. By taking time, now, to clarify their what and why, and to set goals and action plans for the fall, you will be helping your team members get what they want from their business.

Here are some questions you can ask as you hold the appointments:

  • What inspired you the most at Conference?
  • What do you want from your business this fall?
  • What makes this important to you?
  • How will you be different when you do this?
  • How will you feel/think when you’ve accomplished this?
  • How will you celebrate?
  • What goals do you want to accomplish by the end of December?
  • What are your goals for this month?
  • What’s the first step you will take within the next 24 hours?
  • What action steps will you take this week that will move you closer to your goal?
  • When will you block time in your calendar to get them done?
  • How will you hold yourself accountable to take these action steps?

Begin your conversation by sharing what you see in them (success qualities) and how much you appreciate them being on your team. As you ask these questions, listen closely and write down what they say. Let them do most of the talking. When you are finished, they will be excited because they have clarity about what they want and an action plan that they created for themselves. Be sure and set up follow-up appointments to keep them motivated about their goals.
