You have the best of intentions, but it’s not happening.  Or maybe you are saying you want to, but you don’t. Or things don’t happen the way you want.

Your vision is clear: a new kitchen, the next promotion, or a full calendar. You might even be able to list the activities necessary to make it happen. Still, procrastination, lack of will, or avoidance creep in, and you don’t do what has happened to stop that dream from becoming a reality.

Please take a deep dive into what you want and why you want it.  Set aside your daily concerns, and you have the power to light the fire of momentum and get yourself moving. The key to igniting your fire is setting aside time to quietly and honestly answer the following questions.

  • What do I want?
  • What is important to me about having it?
  • How will my life change if I have it?
  • How will I feel when I have it?
  • Who else will be impacted by this achievement?
  • How will those I love see me when I achieve this?
  • Will I feel different about myself? How?
  • How will this change the outcome of my life or the lives of those I love?

A special journal is a great place to record the answers to these questions. When you find yourself distracted or procrastinating, it’s time to read the journal and answer the questions again. Life brings change, and sometimes your ‘what and why’ change, too. This journal will eventually become a record of your accomplishments and a great source of inspiration when life gets challenging.

The follow-through on your intentions happens when you are motivated enough to do the hard things. Motivation is internal. Once you are clear about what you want and why you want it, you can tap into your inner power. This power gives you the ability to say “no” to the things that distract you and “yes” to the things that challenge you on the journey to realizing your dreams!

If one of your intentions is to grow your business this fall, then you’ll want to focus on developing your new and future leaders.  The process will start with your intention.  After that,  you and your coaching skills will keep them focused on getting to the next level.  Early October is a great time to sort out which of your future leaders will promote this fall.
