Let’s talk about the 5 steps to creating that system.

1.  Set a goal. How many Leaders will you promote in the next month, quarter or year? Write your goal down, create a visual and share it with your team.

2.  Set a schedule. Block out time to have 3-5 Leadership Conversations every week. For more information on how to do this, review the previous blogs on
(Who to Promote, Inviting Prospects to Leadership Conversations & Scheduling    Leadership Conversations.) Remember a Future Leader is not a Future Leader until you know her/his what and why and you’ve agreed on a target date within the next three months.

3.  Identify who is willing. Look for five future leaders to work with each month. Focus on getting them qualified that month. Getting these five to the “finish line” is the most important thing you can do to create fast growth on your team.

4.  Re-evaluate. Analyze your future leaders group at the end of each month.  Who’s moving ahead? Who hasn’t met your efforts with theirs? Decide who will move forward with you to the next month. Add new future leaders to your pool, and “bless and release” those who are showing you they aren’t that interested in moving up at this time.

5.  Stay focused. To build fast, you’ll want to move fast. Your time is valuable. It isn’t hard to become a Leader for those who are passionate about their “what and why” and really want a promotion. It doesn’t take months or years to promote. Be honest with yourself about who you’re spending your time with and you’ll know who’s really focused on it and who’s all talk with no action toward the goal.

What’s the system you have now?  What changes will you make after reading this blog?
