By developing your promoting system as we’ve discussed, you will be adding (and deleting) future Leaders from your Dream Team. Every month you’re focusing on 5 futures for qualification that month, you’ve got your time blocks to do Leadership conversations and are doing 3-5 every week. I’ll bet your wondering, “How do I keep track of everyone!” That’s a great question. Let’s talk about it.
This is part three of a three part series. Part one is about five steps to creating a system. Part Two is about making it duplicable. Today our focus is about staying focused; that means tracking.
Tracking a future Leader begins once you know their “what and why” and have set a target date set within 3 months. You’ll want to take notes as you talk to your futures. You can choose from 3 ways to organize your tracking.
On your computer: Many leaders create and excel spreadsheet to keep track of each future. You can devote one “sheet” to each future leader.
In a notebook: Some leaders use a notebook with tabs for each future leader. Taking notes to keep track of their progress helps you have valuable conversations and saves you time.
In file folders: Other leaders have a file folder for each future leader that follows them throughout their career. Important notes, benchmarks, and reminders are kept in this.
On index cards: Some leaders who are working with many future leaders keep the most pertinent information about progress on index cards to carry with them.
I would love to hear what your favorite system is for tracking the progress of future leaders. What do you use?
