Do you believe this? A one-off sale is nice.  Finding a friendly customer who comes back is even better.

What’s your focus?

Does your follow-up create a fortune?

Creating great results with follow-up is all about your attitude. What is the purpose when you reach back to a customer or team member? If it’s because you need to make your goal, then they will recognize your aim.  Or is it to take care of your customer or team member? The people you call will know the answer, even if you don’t.

A strong team and a loyal customer base happen when you focus on relationships. When you value people, they’ll feel the difference and want to work with you. Communicating that value requires intentional effort on your part. To be that servant leader often requires you to get out of your comfort zone.

  1. Check your attitude: When you are performing acts of service, how do you feel? If you feel resentful or impatient, begin to practice more small acts of service for others until you no longer resent doing them.
  2. Write down what your individual customers and team members value.  Maybe even write down some details about their life so that you are ready for the “friendly” conversation next time.

Before you make each follow-up call or message, check your attitude. Are you excited to connect with that person? Do you have something of value to share?

Make sure you show up as a servant leader by constantly asking yourself, did I add value to that person? If you can consistently answer yes, your servant leadership will shine.
