Summer is here! Have you thought about how you will keep your team engaged and excited when there are so many distractions? When you create a new routine and add an extra helping of fun, your team will stay involved! Here are three ideas that may help you have FUN with your team during the summer.

It starts with having fun meetings. Think about beginning the summer with a

Fun in the Sun meeting:  If you can do live meetings, you can go all out with a summer theme. If you use digital sessions, give everyone a little time to talk about what they have on.

  • Invite everyone to wear shorts and flip-flops and have them bring a summer business building or organization idea to share.
  • Plan training that covers the basics…booking, selling, and recruiting. Add ideas on how to have fun while working on their business. Break them into groups to share their idea.
  • Have Door Prizes that relate to summer. For example, you can use suntan lotion, oversized plastic sunglasses, tote bags, straw hats, flip-flops, picnic items, etc. If you have remote winners, give gift certificates to outdoor-themed stores.
  • Add fun activities like having a Flip Flop contest. Give prizes for the prettiest, ugliest, most blingy, newest, oldest, etc.
  • Send invitations. Buy summer-themed paper plates. On the front, write the invitation to your “Fun in the Sun” meeting with the date, time, place, and what to bring. Attach an address label on the back and put it in the mailbox. Yes, the postal service will deliver it!

Kid’s Rally. Since children are around, the summertime is an excellent opportunity for you to help them understand what Mom or Dad do when they go to work. Again, you can incorporate some of these into conference calls or video meetings. Here’s how it works:

  • Kids come to the meeting with Mom/Dad. (Be sure they are old enough to understand what Mom/Dad do)
  • Hire a couple of teenagers to keep the kids busy. (One year, our teenage son and his friend did magic tricks for the kids)
  • Ask a couple of kids to demonstrate their favorite product or testify why they love their Mom/Dad being in the business.
  • Plan the training to cover the basics and have recognition. Not everyone will have kids there, so you want to be sure everyone gets value for their time.
  • Have some door prizes for the kids and what you usually do.

Summer Incentives to Make Memories. When choosing incentives and awards for challenges this summer, think about giving or doing something that will make memories:

  • Gift cards for Baskin Robbins, Starbucks, McDonald’s, Putt Putt Golf, and bowling can be used for a family treat.
  • Take qualifiers for an ice cream social or dessert after a meeting or a mani-pedi with you for those top performers.
  • Have a barbecue or family picnic when your team makes a big goal. This now only makes memories; it builds relationships on your team.

What does your summer plan look like? Enjoy creating summer fun for your team!
