Here are some practical tips for those in party plan companies who want to start goal-setting for January. A top-notch January begins now, not in January. You have about 6 weeks to the end of the year and about 3-4 weeks for guaranteed Holiday shipping. Time to look ahead!

  1. Set a goal to hold parties, events, get-togethers, open houses, etc. How many will you have?
  2. Book like crazy, and then add a few more. Book twice as many as you want to hold. Offer a bonus gift for hard-to-fill time slots. When people say, “after the holidays,” reply, “Great! I’m scheduling January parties now, would ________ or _______ be better for you?” Hostess coach everyone like it was your last party. Be thorough. Get your hostess excited about what’s in it for her. Make a wish list with her.
  3. Get your hostess excited about what’s in it for her friends.
  4. Mail a Holiday card to each hostess, telling her how you are looking forward to her special party.
  5. Mail a postcard or a quick message of encouragement and your party challenges every week. Positive communication locks in parties!
  6. You control your January, not the weather. Remember to over-book your schedule.

We can almost guarantee that if you are working on January, you will have a strong finish in December. Funny how it works that way.
