We hear from many new consultants in the party plan world that they are spending too much time at their parties.  We have found there is no “perfect” time to be at a party, but that there are some ways to make your parties more effective and efficient.  In this article, we will look at three tips to make your parties more efficient, making better use of the time you are there.

  1.  Arrive early.  Many successful consultants will tell you they get to the host’s home about 30 minutes early.  They can set up any display items,
write-up orders the host may have, and check in with the host for possible booking and sponsoring leads.  The key to this tip is to use the time wisely when you arrive early.
  2. Start on time.  So many hosts want you to “wait” for more guests to arrive.  Not only is this inefficient for you, it devalues the guests who did arrive on time.  Next month we will talk about ways to start on time and get more guests arriving on time.  For now, you may want to say, “Let’s go ahead and start with these people who are here to be fair to them.  When Sue arrives, we’ll catch her up.”
  3. Find a place to write-up orders.  If you are juggling your sales materials, calculator, and order forms you will make more mistakes.  Ask if anyone needs to leave and “go first”.  This will get the ordering process started.
