We received so much positive feedback from our last blog, Five Ways to Get More Customer Engagement, we wanted to continue sharing ideas to help you get your customers to interact with you.

Remember first, and foremost, your group is to serve your customers, provide education, and keep your connection healthy.  Of course, you can also sell to them more easily in the group.  With Facebooks’ new focus on groups, you will want to make your group stand out among the many choices people have. Imagine consistent sales every week from your group because your members don’t want to miss a thing you post.  Be yourself, be your best self, and create a group that promotes community!

  1. Celebrate Birthday Months! Who doesn’t love recognition for their birthday!! Post a monthly Shout Out to those who have birthdays! Ask them to comment with their birthdates. I know this is the honor system, but it’s okay.  Some direct sellers do a monthly birthday drawing.
  2. Use Lots of Selfies and Ask Members to Post Theirs Enjoying Your Products. This is SO much more effective than posting your company’s sale flyers or stock photos. People love to see YOU being a person, YOU using your product, and if they are a fan, they will post themselves. Some direct sellers do a Saturday Selfie and ask key members to post themselves.
  3. Share Articles and Trends in your area. Google to find out trends, ideas, or articles that pertain to your product and what people do with them. Use the “Share” feature as many times as possible.  Do NOT cut and paste articles to share. The person who wrote the article owns the copyright, and you want them to get the SEO (internet credit, if you will) for writing the article. Do NOT use Google photos without paying or giving attribution.
  4. Go Live! I know, I hate this one, too. I have been posting #FiveMinuteFriday every week for almost a year, and I still cringe when I see my face. BUT, that is the point, others want to see your face, hear from you.  At least weekly go live. Here are some things you can talk about:
    • Behind the scenes
    • You and your team
    • How to use your product/services
    • Just say hello and share a milestone in your family, life, or business
    • Your fun side
    • Recognize select customers, hostesses, clients, for the month
    • Show appreciation for the members who comment, or are the fan of the month with the most engagement (you can find this from Facebook).
  1. Post Inspiring or Funny Quotes. Ask questions about them. Save ones that speak to you on Facebook and share them.  People love, love, love to laugh, and you don’t have to be a comedian to give them a smile.  Some direct sellers share why a quote or meme spoke to them. One of the most commented posts I have shared is “someone needs this today.”  Remember, it is about keeping it personal.

Many people ask me how often to post. There is no correct answer. How often do you want to communicate with your customers? If it is only when you have something on sale, or you need sales, you may need to rethink why you have a group. Facebook Groups, done right, will keep you in business and keep your reputation for service in high regard.
