Have you found that one of the benefits of being in direct selling is that you can build your business from home? You’re the CEO of your company, and it’s essential to have it run smoothly. Having your office organized will make it easy to stay focused on the activities that build your business.

Here are five tips to get you organized for success:

  1. Have a place to work.
Set up your office in a quiet place where you can work with few interruptions, if possible. (My first office was the corner of our bedroom) You may only have a corner in one of your rooms, or you may have a guest room, dining room that’s never used, or a room meant to be an office. You don’t need an enormous space to get started.
  2. Create a space that you love!
Make it your own, so you’ll want to go there to work on your business. Set out your favorite family and business photos. You may want to hang a bulletin board to use as a Brag Board to pin up special notes, photos, and accomplishments that make you proud. Keep your dreams and goals in full sight, and you may want to create a playlist that inspires you while you work.
  3. Control the Clutter.
Use file folders, baskets, and 3-ring notebooks to keep track of your paperwork. Develop a file system on your computer to keep all your training and notes in one place. Get a small desk or modular unit with drawers and a bookshelf. When you leave your office, be sure everything is put back in its place so you’ll enjoy coming back there next time.
  4. Supplies.
Have all supplies at your fingertips. That includes pens, pencils, markers, tape, paperclips, note cards, return address labels, stamps, sticky notes, To-Do Lists, Planner/ Calendar, rubber bands, printer paper, scissors, hole punch. Create a place for everything you use regularly.
  5. Invest in the Tools.
Think of these tools as an investment that keeps an office running smoothly. You’ll want your office to have a computer, a phone with a headset or your cell phone and headset (I like to have both), a printer; good lighting, a comfortable chair, a clock (I like the oversized clocks that hang on the wall) and a timer.

To have a growing business, it takes doing activities such as booking and holding parties/appointments, recruiting new team members, and promoting leaders. The smoother your office runs, the more time you have to focus on building your team and your income.
