I asked this question in one of my groups and here is a list of what the group members said they do to avoid distraction:

Use a timer

I try to devote just 10-20 minutes a day to doing something for my business….I have been staying off Facebook and that has helped a lot, especially when I feel very far behind in everything! Plus, there are SOO many good ideas on groups like this one that it’s easy to get overwhelmed with trying to implement everything….for that I just suggest picking just one new thing a week or even a month to try…

Having my Top 5. The top 5 things that I need to do that day written down.

A list. And a shower…if I am ready for the day, I can tackle it!

Keep your “why” front and center. Write it down several places in your house if you need to. If you remember what you’re really working toward, it helps you focus!

When I have momentum I am way better focused. It leaves me with less time for distractions.

A timer & a list. My planner helps me out with the list.

This is a hard one for me……squirrel! I have just started with a schedule, and have been working it, I go in my office and close the door, my attempt at no distraction from the four legged kids and husband and spend 30 minutes 4 days a week and then 2 hours on the weekend working.

Focus on one thing at a time. I often find myself wandering to a new task without completing the first and that’s when life gets crazy.

I schedule in my business like every thing else in my planner at the beginning of the week. Booking, end of month, customer care, FB posts, etc all gets a time slot

I just make myself focus, it doesn’t always work but when I tell myself why I am doing what I had planned on doing – make money to pay bills – it gets me roaring to get to work on hostess packets & calling customers about setting up parties or joining my buis

I’m constantly distracted – usually by children arguing…I try to wait until they’re in bed before I attempt any work

A list at night for the next day.

Top list of 3-5 things that must get done first.

I make of list of the top 3-5 things that really need to happen today from my master list for the week. I then *** the item that is the FROG for the day – this is the item that needs to be done first.

I find if I turn OFF my phone and turn off FB/email I can triple what I usually accomplish.

I focus a lot better when I stay off Facebook. The best thing I did was turn off my email notifications.

I have a general list of “to-dos” for the month and the week, then I break them down by day onto a pad of paper. I try to have 7 items each day. Some are quick, some take more time. I work within my power hour topics (3 20 min segments) to guide me. I don’t just work that one hour, but that is my most focused hour. I have to stay off FB, or be super intentional while I’m on it, to avoid being distracted. I plan out my day to maximize my work time and I try to be done before dinner, so my evenings are free after the kids are in bed.
