To carry this theme of seeing your life as a maestro, creating the balance of harmony, not the balance of juggling, let’s compare what happens in your direct selling business and an experience with a symphony orchestra.

There are a variety of instruments.  Just like an orchestra, there are a variety of things happening in your life and business.  You can appreciate and value everyone who joins your team, your friends, family, and the unique gifts they bring to your life.

There are groups of instruments. Many direct selling leaders see the natural groupings in their life: direct selling friends, family, customers, and school contacts are examples.  Making time for each group helps you create harmony in your life.

Not everything is playing at the same time. I know it seems that everything is playing simultaneously, but remember there will be times in your week that are heavy business days and times devoted to family.

The director can change the arrangement. Remember that you are in control of the flow of your life.  This is tricky for some of us because of our reluctance to say “no.”  Many times I have found it useful to say, “I need to check my schedule before I say yes to you.”

The director overlooks the little mistakes during performance.  We are our biggest critics, right?  So remember that no performance is ever perfect, and your life isn’t either.  Overlook the mistakes you make for the time being, and learn from them as you go.

I love the picture of my life in harmony; dynamic, soft and loud, fast and slow.  I smile when I think of all the pieces making beautiful music.  How about you?

This is part two of a three-part series.  Part one is Balancing Direct Sales and Family Life: Your Life as a Symphony.  Look for part three in the near future.
